Map Page Settings

The Map Page Settings dialog box is a central place where you can set various options for map pages. You can go to Map > Map Page Settings from the Map Toolbar to set the map page options.

Tip: In User Preference, you can define the behavior of double-clicking a device and whether scrolling the mouse wheel to zoom in/out a map requires pressing the Ctrl key.

The attributes of map settings are described as follows:

View Options for Data Unit Data Unit

Includes device hostname, interface name, Device Note and the following:

  • Device/Link Position — where device properties can be defined in data view templates. See Creating a Data View Template for details.
  • Overflow Position — shown as under a device icon on a map.
  • Other Draw Shapes — the shapes drawn on a map. See Map Stencil for more details.
Display RatioIndicates the threshold of zoom controls for displaying a corresponding data unit on a map.
Zoom StepIndicates the zoom controls changed by each zoom-in or zoom-out action. See Browse Device Data on Map for more details.
Hide media connected with two topology links onlyHide the media with only two topology links in total in the database, not the media with only two topology links drawn on the map.

Default Auto Link:

  • IPv4 L3 Topology
  • IPv6 L3 Topology
  • L2 Topology
  • L3 VPN Tunnel
  • Logical Topology
  • L2 Overlay Topology

Link Option Between Two Devices:

  • Exclude Management Interface

Excludes management links from map while using the auto-link function.

Information Note: This option has dependency with the execution of the built-in plugin Identify Management Interfaces through the basic system benchmark task.

Extend Links

  • A Random Link
  • All Found Links
Defines how many links are automatically drawn between devices.

Auto Link after Update Map

  • Always auto link all devices
Auto link all devices after the map is updated
Apply to Other MapsEnables applying the auto link setting to existing maps/map pages

Dynamic Grid

A Dynamic Grid will appear on the elements when dragging on the map. The L3 device can achieve horizontal/vertical alignment and spacing with another device by selecting and holding it and adjust it as needed. This guide supports multiple selections as well within the map.


Information Note: For some map page settings, you can check Set as Default to keep the currents settings as default settings. 
Information Note: For some map page settings, you can apply the setting to other maps. Click Apply to Other Maps, then click one of the three map categories (Common Map, Device Group Map, Site Map) to select maps to apply the setting.
