Create a Widget

Following the steps below to create a widget:

  1. Click the start menu and select Network Dashboard Widget & Template.
  2. On the Widgets tab, point to the category in the left pane and click the icon to select New Widget from the drop-down menu.
  1. Fill in the generic information about the Widget, including name (case-insensitive) and description.
  1. Select the data source for the Widget.
  • Select Qapp as Data Source

    InformationNote: If you select this option, this Widget will be categorized as a monitor widget.
  1. Select Qapp.
  2. Click Browse to select a Qapp file and click OK.
    The execution frequency of the Qapp is configurable in a dashboard. See Qapp Settings for more details.
  3. Specify the Widget Type, table or chart.
    1. Select the data type to be displayed in the Widget. If the Event data type is selected, you can skip all the following steps.
    2. If the widget type is a table, you can select the Display _ Row check box and specify a value to limit the maximum rows displayed in the table. The default value is 20.
    3. Select a data table from the Qapp file.
    4. Select metrics to be displayed in the Widget.

      1. In a table widget, the selected widgets are used as column headers.
      2. In a chart widget, the selected widgets are used as the focused parameters in the vertical ordinates.

    5. If the widget type is a table, select a metric to sort the table. By default, the table is sorted in ascending order, and you can click asc to change the order.

  • Select Data Table as Data Source
    InformationNote: If you select this option, this Widget will be categorized as a static widget.
    • Select Data Table.
    • Select a data table from the drop-down list.
  1. Click Save.

Widget Type

TypeDescription
Generic Table

Display metrics in a table. It has the following options:

  • Single Device Data Table — displays the metrics of a single device in the table. You can navigate to the data of another device one by one.
  • Multi-Device Data Table — displays the metrics of multiple devices in the same table.
  • Event — displays Qapp event details in the table.
Generic Chart

Display metrics in a chart. It has the following options:

  • Device Metric Chart — displays the trend of a device's single-value metrics over time in the chart.
  • Interface Metric Chart — displays the trend of interface metrics or multiple-value device metrics during a period in the chart.
  • Event — displays the total number of Qapp event statistics in the chart.
