Check Config Against Golden Rule
Check Config Against Golden Rule Window can show details of the Golden Config Check results of the current rule & device at instance level. Users can manually verify the current Golden Config Rule in this window to get the latest results. The core logic of the Golden Config Check involves matching the config instance's config-let lines with the pattern defined in the corresponding Golden Config Template to identify both matched and unmatched lines.
To check Config Against Golden Rule compare results, complete the following steps:
- Click the
icon in the to open the Check Config Against Golden Rule Window.
- Click the
icon in the Target Config area in the left pane, then select a target config to be compared from the list.
Note: If the config variable is a single string variable, it is single instance. If the config variable is table column, multiple instances exist and you can switch to see golden config of different instances. The following is a screenshot of single config instance. 
- Click the
icon in the Golden Config area in the right pane, then select a golden config already defined in the golden config rule. in this example, only one golden config is matched, therefore, the golden config list is hidden. - Click the
icon in the Golden Config pane to view the match pattern settings. A tip message can appear to show the match pattern rule settings and the reference device used to define this Golden Config Template. The information in the tip message will help you understand the match results. 
.Note: Reference Device is the device selected from device group for calculating Golden Config data when Golden Config is defined. - View the compare results in this pane. The matched config lines will be colored by green and the unmatched config lines will be colored by red.
Other Operations in the Check Config Against Golden Rule Window
In this window, the following minor operations can be performed.
- Reverify the golden config rule for the current instance: Click the Re-verify button at the upper-right corner of this window to get the latest golden check results.
- Mute Alert: Mute Alert operation is performed at instance level in this window. When Mute Alert function is enabled:

- The Rule Check Note displayed in the Golden Config Pane for this instance will be dimmed.
- The muted alert will no longer be counted, and the alert count in the ‘Summary Information’ area will be updated accordingly.
- If a configuration violation is detected for this instance in the future, no alert will be generated.
- Switch Display Mode: Choose to show the original full config lines or summary config (only the Config-let of the current config instance) in the left pane.

- Copy target config and golden config: To document the target config or golden config to check the matched/unmatched lines later, copy target config and golden config by hovering over the config and clicking the
icon. 
- Define/modify Design Wike: Design Wiki is a description of the design of a Golden Config, which can be modified at the bottom of this window. In this window, Design Wiki is defined/modified at instance level. However, for single instance case, the Design Wiki will be defined at device level.
In the Design Wiki field, type new Design Wiki or modify existing Design Wiki.
