Intent Execution Limitation without PA License

If a PA license is not purchased, NetBrain assigns a free trial license quota to each feature. Each feature has a separate daily trial quota, which cannot be shared or transferred between feature. Additionally, without a PA license, the number of executed intents per run is limited for each feature.

Intent-based Automations features are classified into four categories to describe intent execution limitation without PA License, as shown in the table below.

Note:
1. “Maximum 24 intents” in the right-most column indicates that users can execute up to 24 intents per run, including both home intents and follow-up intents.

2. In the AI Bot, "Maximum 24 intents" means that users can execute up to 24 intents  per question. This total includes both home intents and follow-up intents. Users can schedule run a maximum of 1 intent per question without PA license, or up to 12 intents per question with PA license.

3. For Chatbot, it is limited to 24 intents per run, but within one Chatbot session, users can run intents for unlimited times. The PA License trial Quota allows for 24 runtimes per day and is deducted each time the Chatbot is opened, regardless of whether a diagnosis is performed through the Chatbot.

4. For running the last ADT node in Chatbot, the max number of executable intents of the last ADT node is not configurable and is set to 5 without PA license, therefore, users can run at most 5 home intents in each node, for each home intent, the number of executed home intent + follow-up intents should not exceed 24. If ADT node is not the last node, users can run only one home intent in each node, and the number of executed home intent + follow-up intents should not exceed 24.

5. The PA license policy for Golden intent execution in Golden Engineering Studio (GES) is same as that in ADT.

6. Under certain conditions, automation will be triggered in AI Insight — if the queried automation result exceeds a specified timeout period, such as 4 hours, the related automation will be run. This run automation operation is also subject to the same PA license limitations as the AI Bot, with a maximum of 24 NIs per run.

Information Note: This PA license control rules marked with (new) are supported in the patch 12.1.0.5. Ensure your system is upgraded to one of these patches to use these rules

Details about what you can do without a PA license are provided below.

Interactive Automation for troubleshooting

Limitations for Running Intents in Quick Intent, Auto Intent, and Published Intent

You can run intents in these features as many times as needed because there is no runtime limitation. However, if the intent is a wrapper intent (containing follow-up intent logic) used as an intent template, you can only run a maximum of 24 intents per run, including both home intents and follow-up intents.

Limitations for Running Intent One by One

When running Intents one by one in features NI View, Map Intent, Path Intent, Member Intent, and Golden Intent, there is no PA license quota limitation. However, you can run a maximum of 24 intents (including follow-up intents) per run.

Limitations for Running Intents within Runbook

When running intents in Runbook node, there is no runtime limitation. However, a maximum of 24 intents (including follow-up intents) can be executed each time a runbook node is triggeged.

Limitations for Running intents within the AI Bot

When running intents within the AI Bot, you can execute up to 24 intents per question, including both home intents and follow-up intents. There is no PA license quota limitation. This logic applies to both interactively executed and scheduled intents in AI Bot.

Limitations for Schedule to Run Intent

When scheduling intents to run in NetBrain, there is no PA license quota limitation. However, a maximum of 24 intents (including follow-up intents) can be executed per scheduled run.

Limitations for Running Intent to Perform a Golden Check in the Golden Intent Pane

When intents are run to perform a golden check in the Golden Intent pane, there is no PA license quota limitation. However, a maximum of 24 intents can be executed per run.

Packaged Intent Automation as Interactive Service

Limitations for Running Intents in Chatbot

For Chatbot, the free PA license quota allows for 24 runtimes per day. One runtime is consumed each time the Chatbot is opened, regardless of whether a diagnosis is performed.

Limitations for Running Intents in Email-triggered Diagnosis

Running intents in Email-triggered Diagnosis is limited by the free PA License quota (24 runtimes per day). You can only run a maximum of 24 intents per runtime, including both home intents and follow-up intents.

Limitations for Running Intents in Self-service Diagnosis from Incident

Running intents in Self-service Diagnosis from Incident is limited by the free PA License quota (24 runtimes per day). You can only run a maximum of 24 intents per runtime, including both the home intents and follow-up intents.

Limitations for Running Intents in Manual Diagnosis from ServiceNow

Running intents in Manual Diagnosis from ServiceNow is limited by the free PA License quota (24 runtimes per day), and you can only run a maximum of 24 intents per runtime, including both home intents and follow-up intents.

Running Automation for Network Assessment

Limitations for Running Intents in Batch via NIC

Running intents in batch via NIC is limited by PA License free quota (24 runtimes per day). You can run a maximum of 24 intents for batch run, including both home intents and follow-up intents.

Limitations for Running ADT Intents (Once/Via Timer)

PA license does not provide free quota for running ADT intents using the Run Intents Once and Run Intents via Timer function (available from the ADT intent column menu). However, without a PA License, you can still run ADT intents in other scenarios, for example, as part of follow-up diagnostics or by scheduling the ADT intent to run.

Machine-to-Machine running of Automation

Limitations for Running Intents in TAF

Running intents trigged by TAF is limited by PA License free quota (24 runtimes per day). You can run a maximum of 24 intents for each runtime, including both home intents and follow-up intents.

Limitations for PAF Installation

Defining and installing automation do not require PA license except when installing any of the following three types of probes to Preventive Automation (for triggering NIT, NIC, or ADT Intents): primary probe, Looking Glass probe, or timer probe. Preventive Automation features do not include a free trial quota.

Limitations for Running Intents in Golden Engineering Studio

Running a golden intent once in GES or running intents via the timer in GES (Schedule tab) is not allowed without a PA license. No free quota is provided for these actions.
