Circuit Break Manager

The Domain admin can use Circuit Break to detect and record large data items in the regular Benchmark task and move them to the Circuit Break Benchmark automatically for low-frequency data collection, and this will ensure the regular Benchmark operates at a faster pace.

Configuring Circuit Break

You can easily configure the threshold and run the circuit break benchmark in three steps:

  1. Enable Circuit Break: By default, the Circuit Break function is turned OFF, turn it ON when there is a large amount of data in the user network, causing delays or inability to complete the Server Benchmark.
  2. Information Note: The Circuit Break Benchmark Task will be disabled if the Circuit Break function is turned OFF.
  3. Adjust the data size as the circuit break uses the data size as threshold for retrieving live data in the Server Benchmark.

  4. Information Note: The default threshold is 50 MB, you can adjust it according to the actual situation.

The Circuit Break will check the following data retrieved in the Server Benchmark:

    1. Each data item in the Retrieve Live Data section, including the System Tables and NCT Tables.

    2. Each CLI Command in the CLI Commands section.

    3. The data size is the size of the raw data in each data item. If a data item has sub-items, the data size is the total amount of all raw data of the main item and sub-items.

      Information

Note: The Configuration File and Device and Interface Information do not support the Circuit Break Check.

  5. Define the schedule and Run Circuit Break Benchmark as follows:

    1. Click on the Task Schedule to open Circuit Break Threshold Setting window.

    2. Use the option Stop retrieving after to adjust the time range for data retrieval as in some user networks, device access is allowed only with in a specified time range.

    3. Select the time and frequency as per your use case to run either once, weekly or monthly and click Submit to save and close the window.

    4. Information Note: It is recommended to use a lower frequency to collect the device data items in the Circuit Break Benchmark task.

    5. Click Run Now and the current status summary can be seen after the circuit break benchmark is finished.

      Information

Note: The Circuit Break Benchmark will also perform Circuit Break checking on the collected data items and refresh the Circuit Break Table.

Listing device data items triggered by the Circuit Break Threshold

All data items that triggered the Circuit Break threshold will be listed under the Benchmark Circuit Break and can be sorted by performing following operations:

  1. Sort by each column header.
  2. Search and filter the data item in this table by Device, Data, and Last Result columns.
  3. Export the table content to the CSV file.

  4. For each data item, you can view the device log, adjust the threshold and delete. Select the data and right click to open the options:
    1. View Device Log: View the live access log of data collection of the selected data item.

    2. Edit Threshold: You can set individual Device Data of the Circuit Break thresholds according to actual situation.

For example: If the data size for the routing table of the core router is larger than the default Circuit Break threshold. But, still want to get data in the Server Benchmark, it can be achieved by modifying the thresholds.

Select the Edit Threshold and it will pop up a window with following options:

      • The “Data Size is Unlimited” can be chosen to not run Circuit Break checking and it is the default selection.
      • The “Data Size is Greater or Equal to” can be chosen to assign a specific data size value to the data item.

Individual Setting Table

All manually changed threshold settings will be recorded in the Individual Setting table with the following features:

  1. All data items that have manual edit Circuit Break threshold.
  2. To delete the individual setting(s). After deleting the individual setting, the device data item will use the global default threshold.
  3. Support search and filter.
