Monitor Servers and Services

NetBrain Service Monitor provides a portal for administrators to observe the health of deployed Windows and Linux servers, with operations management of related services. It collects various types of metrics data from these deployed servers and visualizes them in tables or line charts.

With Service Monitor, the system administrator can troubleshoot a system-level issue and take remedial actions or optimize the system performance by performing the following operations:

  • Check the status and connectivity of each server, and the performance metrics of relevant services in the system, to troubleshoot a login failure, a search failure, or an automation task execution failure.
  • Analyze the trending data of system resource utilization metrics, such as CPU utilization, memory utilization, and disk/directory space usage.
  • Restart NetBrain services manually or schedule restarting services periodically.

User Flow

Information Note: If you deploy more than one system across multiple data centers, you will have more than one Service Monitor portal.
  1. Install Service Monitor Agent     .
  2. Monitor Server and Service Metrics

Monitored Data Type

The following table lists the data types that can be monitored via the Service Monitor Portal. All the metrics data is saved in Elasticsearch.

Collectable DataDescription
Server Metrics

The metrics data of all deployed servers, including:

  • Live connectivity (Connected/Disconnected).
  • Basic server information, such as hostname, IP address, and OS version.
  • System resource utilization metrics, such as CPU utilization, memory utilization, disk I/O, and disk storage.
  • The list of NetBrain services and third-party services installed on each of them.
Service Metrics

The metrics data of NetBrain services and third-party services installed on each deployed server, including:

  • Real-time status (Running/Stopped).
  • Basic service information, such as PID, startup type, version, uptime, and the number of threads.
  • Metrics data related to quality and performance. It may vary depending on service types. See Monitored Metrics for more details.
