NetBrain DevOps Edition

A Free Tool for Writing and Running Apps for Your Network

Download NetBrain DE

NetBrain DevOps Edition (DE) is a free network automation tool for analyzing and diagnosing your network with apps called Qapps. NetBrain DE includes dozens of apps, but more importantly it is a DevOps platform, so you can write your own apps without scripting or programming.

  1. Write an app, not a script        2. Automate troubleshooting with apps      3. Download and share apps

NetBrain DE can be used to run apps which accomplish a variety of network tasks including monitoring, troubleshooting, change verification, compliance and inventory management. Users can save apps and share them internally within their organization, fostering a culture of collaboration.

Writing Your Own Apps

NetBrain DE includes a software development kit (SDK) for writing your own network apps. The software’s visual programming environment includes built-in templates for writing a variety of apps. To start, define a CLI command as input. You can begin identifying the data you’d like the app to collect and analyze through sample CLI output. The visual nature of programming Qapps makes automation significantly easier to achieve vs. scripting.

Top Apps

NetBrain DE comes installed with over one hundred apps for analyzing routing, multicasting, QoS, inventory, and more. Below is a sample of apps that come pre-installed with NetBrain DE. You can run these apps after you download the software and discover devices in your network. More apps are available for download from Qapp Exchange.

 1. Network Health At-a-Glance

This app monitors several health indicators for each device in the map, including CPU and memory utilization as well as interface status, bandwidth utilization, and interface errors. The alert thresholds are adjustable for each parameter.

1. Network Health At-a-Glance

2. QoS Minute-by-Minute Analysis

This app highlights each interface in the map with its QoS-related configuration and continuously monitors for QoS health indicators such a queue drops, QoS CPU/Memory usage, and more.

2. QoS Minute-by-Minute Analysis

3. Dynamic Routing At-a-Glance

This app highlights IGP and BGP dynamic routing configuration for each interface in the map, using a color-coded legend as reference.

3. Dynamic Routing At-a-Glance

4. Monitor IGP Routing Status

This app continuously monitors IGP (EIGRP, OSPF, RIP, and IS-IS) health parameters such as neighbor status, routes learned, route flapping indicators, and more.

4. Monitor IGP Routing Status

5. Map and Monitor Multicasting Status

This app can be used to dynamically map a multicasting downstream source tree, indicating Last-Hop Routers and First-Hop Routers.
