By 2021, productized network automation tools will be used by 45% of organizations, which is an increase from fewer than 10% today, report finds

Burlington, MA – April 11, 2018NetBrain Technologies, provider of the industry’s leading network automation platform, today announced that it has been named as a representative vendor in Gartner’s Market Guide for Network Automation for the third consecutive year. According to the report, “Network automation tools enable network operations staff to gain process and configuration agility, while ensuring compliance. Infrastructure and operations leaders should use this Market Guide to shortlist appropriate network automation tools for their needs.” Today, tens of thousands of network engineers rely on NetBrain to gain visibility into their hybrid networks while automating tasks across their troubleshooting, security, and change management workflows. NetBrain is used by more than 2,000 enterprises worldwide including one-third of Fortune 100 companies.

Gartner defines the network automation market “as tools that automate the visibility, troubleshooting, reporting and maintenance of virtual and physical network device configurations, supporting opportunities to lower costs, reduce human error, and improve compliance with configuration policies.” The report identifies four distinct sub-segments of network automation—Network Configuration and Change Management (NCCM), Orchestration, Policy-Based Automation (PBA), and Intent-Based Networking Systems (IBNS).

According to the Market Guide, Gartner recommends that, in order to optimize and transform IT operations, infrastructure and operations (I&O) leaders responsible for managing their network infrastructure should:

  • “Automate manual tasks performed more than four times a year by mandating the use of network automation tooling, particularly when there are at least 10 of the same device type present.”
  • “Prepare your network automation tools strategy by supporting virtual network infrastructures and programmatic, open-standard APIs.”
  • “Prioritize greater agility by investing in network automation tools that enable an orchestration, policy-based and IBNS-oriented approach to configuration and change management.”

“As cloud computing and IBNS continue to disrupt the network management space, network teams are demanding better visibility and automation for their increasingly complex infrastructures,” said Lingping Gao, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, NetBrain. “The NetBrain platform provides customers with a single pane of glass view into their physical, virtual, and software-defined networks, while integrating with a rich ecosystem of partners to automate their IT workflows. We are honored to be a Representative Vendor in Gartner’s Market Guide for the third consecutive year.”

NetBrain’s latest platform release, NetBrain Integrated Edition, was launched in 2017. It features powerful network mapping and runbook automation capabilities to help network teams improve efficiency and collaboration when troubleshooting outages, securing the network, validating the intent of network changes, and more. Built on an open API platform, NetBrain also integrates with third-party technologies, including IT service management (ITSM), security information and event management (SIEM) systems, and 24×7 monitoring systems, providing network teams with unified visibility of their hybrid networks while enhancing their existing toolsets and processes.
