NetBrain includes the following three modules:
Note: Each module needs to be purchased separately.
Application Assurance Module (AAM) is intended for customers who mainly focus on application-aware path management. It provides an integrated solution to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot network applications by combining the application-aware paths with NetBrain automation features. Value-added features of AAM include:
▪Application Manager
▪Golden Path
▪Application-Aware Monitor
Change Management Module (CMM) is intended to provide customers with a comprehensive network change management solution including the ability to create, approve, deploy and validate complex network changes. Value-added features of CMM include:
▪Change Management Runbook
▪Schedule and Triggered Network Change
Intent Base Automation (IBA) is intended to manage the automation functions including Network Intent, Network Intent Cluster, Preventive Automation, Decision Tree, etc.
The following table summarizes the features that will be fully or partially restricted for the users without an IBA license:
▪There are no restrictions on NI/NIC creation and viewing of NI/NIC history.
▪NI/NIC execution (both triggered via API and interactive execution, including running NI inside API stub) will be metered daily, and there are quotas per domain.
▪Users can “borrow” the unused IBA free quota from other days of the week, by switching to “weekly” usage metering.
▪Preventative automation does not need to purchase the IBA license to configure and to see, which includes: 1) Define AM probe; 2) View Trend chart; 3) View IBA dashboard.

Module |
License Control |
1 |
Network Intent |
All the operations of defining/viewing NI, viewing NI history results, installing NI, and the number of NIs in the Domain are no longer limited. Only in the absence of an IBA license, limit the number of times to run NI per day not to exceed the free quota provided by NetBrain. |
Perform separate statistics on the number of times to run NI, including interactive running, running triggered by API Call. If there is no IBA license, when the number of times to run NI on the day reaches the upper limit, the new running task will no longer be executed. |
||
Debugging running is required in the process of defining NI, which is not controlled by the IBA license so that user can create NI without restriction. |
||
2 |
Network Intent Cluster |
There are no restrictions on the definition, viewing, and installation of NIC. There are no restrictions on creating member NI. The operation of running member NI in NIC is controlled by the IBA license, and the running times are calculated in the unit of member NI, just like ordinary NI. |
3 |
Triggered Automation |
The definition of incident type and triggered diagnosis is not restricted by the IBA license. In the entire execution flow of TAF: ▪Generating incident, merging incident, and filtering member NI in NIC are not restricted by the IBA license. ▪The execution of NI and member NI is restricted in accordance with the rules of running NI. ▪For triggered diagnosis, if a user specifies not to run NI but to create NI's intent map, creating NI map is not restricted by the IBA license quota. Users will always be able to get the NI map in triggered automation. ▪When there is no IBA license and the number of times to run NI reaches the free quota limit, TAF records the corresponding NI 'Execution aborted due to exhaustion of IBA license' in the log, and automatically sends a message to the incident: X NI Execution aborted due to IBA license running out, making users see this information clearly and consider whether to purchase the IBA license. |
When running a runbook template that is triggered by API Stub or Event Template, only NI execution is controlled by the IBA license, and the execution of other nodes is still not restricted by the IBA license. |
||
4 |
Preventative Automation (Adaptive Monitor) |
The following AM functions can be used without an IBA license: ▪Define/View/Edit Probe ▪View Trend Chart ▪Execute Probe to generate Flash Alert ▪Adaptive Monitoring Polling Control ▪API Triggered Flash Alert ▪View IBA dashboard |
5 |
Decision Tree (DT) |
If the IBA license expires or there is no IBA license, the Decision Tree entry point is no longer visible. |
6 |
Feature Intent Definition (FID) |
In IEv10.0a, the following functions during the execution of FID will not be executed without an IBA license. But in this version, they are no longer be restricted. ▪Create Flash Probe ▪Create NI ▪Install Flash Probe ▪Install NI |
7 |
TAF |
When there is no IBA license and the number of times to run NI reaches the free quota limit, manually running self-service diagnosis will no longer be allowed, and the subscription will no longer receive new flash alert and the data of NI status code. |
