The files of many key features (Network Intent/Map/Bot/ADT…) in NetBrain can be created by one user and used by many others. A reliable Lock function and a Single-editing Control policy are applied to many features in NetBrain to avoid confusion and data loss risks.
Basic Concept of Lock Function
NetBrain provides the editing right control function. Different uses have different editing right and the following rules are followed.

- Users with editing right can lock a file with or without a password.
- Other users who want to edit the file must provide the password if the file is locked with password.
- The creator and users with the “Domain Admin” role can freely edit a file without a password.
Basic Concept of Single-editing Control Policy
In the case where more than one users are editing the same file, the data in the file may be overwritten. To address this issue, the notion of Single-editing Control Policy is introduced to NetBrain. According to this policy, if one user is editing a file, a notification message will appear when others attempt to edit it.
