R12.1 Project-2025Sep08

Identify Device and Data

Once you click Next on the Upload File tab, the parsing starts, and the current tab displays the parsed device name, command name, and other data for you to view. When the radio Update Device Model and Import Commands is selected on the Upload File tab, the information, such as hostname, device driver, and command, is displayed.

The main actions you can perform are as follows:

  • You are allowed to manually stop the detection during the process.

  • You can also view the detection log as follows. More logs such as invalid regex expression and regex matching timeout can also be included.

Information Note: If you select Skip Update in Step 1, the driver conflict shown in the above image will not be identified when the detected device is already in a domain.
  • You can click Actions to perform batch operations. The first three options are used to resolve the conflicts issues in batches, and you can select to use the detected driver, driver in domain, or directly remove the devices. You can select the last option to remove all the detected devices that already in the system, not updating the ones in domain.

The Already in NetBrain column indicates whether the device with the same hostname already exists in the domain.

Redetect Files: If you find the detected results, e.g., device hostname, CLI command name, are not detected correctly, you can modify the Detection Logic and click Redetect Files to re-parse the files.

When the detected device driver is not correct, you can change the driver to the desired one. Hover on a device driver and change it for the corresponding device.

  • If the detected driver is already in the domain:

The Change Device Driver dialog is as follows and you can change the driver for this device.

  • If the detected driver is not in the domain:

The Change Device Driver dialog is as follows and you can also change the driver for this device.

More related information is as follows:

  • Files from which device hostname and command cannot be identified are categorized into the Unclassified Device group.
  • Clicking a command can view its details to check whether a command text is identified correctly – correct start and end line.
  • The Command Lines column shows how many lines the command result has, which helps check whether the command texts are detected correctly quickly.

When you select Import Commands Only in step 1, the step 2 will display the information of the file and commands related to devices in uploaded file. For devices that are not in the domain, you can perform hostname correction for them. The Actions area is removed here, and there are no conflicts for you to resolve.
