Define Discover and Black MAC List

Discover and Black MAC defined which MAC addresses are used or not in the ARP and MAC table lookup algorithm.

  • Discover MAC address is a unique MAC address across the whole network, for example, a real server’s MAC address. If a VLAN Group is split into multiple VLAN groups, merge them into one VLAN Group by using the Discover MAC List.
  • Black MAC Address is a MAC address not unique across the network. For example, if a network device is not in the domain, its interface’s MAC address may be in a different VLAN on multiple switches’ MAC Table or an HSRP virtual MAC address. When multiple VLAN groups are merged, you can use the Black MAC List to separate them.
