NetBrain allows users to define a Site tree by importing a spreadsheet which makes it easy to setup the Site definition procedure. Users can define a Site hierarchy by assigning a column header level which will be introduced in this section. The Site hierarchy of the above screenshot could be:

Region\Country\Area\State\City\Site Name(Office)

1. Right click the Entire Network-Site node in the Site Manager or click Import From File button at the bottom of Site tree.. Select Import From File to choose a spreadsheet. The Import File to Create Site window will open.

2. Define Site Hierarchy.By default, five site levels are listed on the Import File to Create Site window. Users are able to add or remove levels according to the requirements.

Choose a column header to set the Site name. Level 1 indicates the top of Site hierarchy. The Site hierarchy level decreases as the Level number increases.

Note:

1.Sites which have the same upper-level (Parent) will be categorized as a Child Site of the Parent Site.

2.Sites which do not have Parent Site (the corresponding value is null) will promote themselves automatically to replace their Parent Site.

3. Add Site Properties.Switch to Add Site Properties tab, select the columns which you want to add to Site properties. These values will be added into related Site properties.

4. Add Site Identification.Switch to the Add Site identification tab, choose corresponding Site Identifications from the combo box. Site Identification indicates the identification of devices included in specific Sites (e.g. WAN Router) and is used to match dynamic Clusters. All devices in matched Clusters belong to the Site.

The combo box lists all column headers of the file you imported.

oDevice Hostname:Choose identification devices column from the combo box. All the devices will be imported into Add Group in Device List of the corresponding Leaf Site. The hostnames of Devices in the spreadsheet should be the same as hostnames in the workspaces. This field can be left empty if there are no such columns in the imported spreadsheet.

oBorder Interface IP : Choose identification Border interface column from the combo box. All the interfaces will be imported into Border Interface Edit Box of the corresponding Leaf Site. The Border Interfaces require satisfying the predefined pattern: hostname.interface(e.g. bst_core1.e0/0). This field can be left empty if there are no such columns in the imported spreadsheet.

oDevice IP Address: Choose identification IP Address column from the combo box. All the IPs will be set as IP Address Criteria in Dynamic Search field of the corresponding Leaf Site. The IPs require satisfying the predefined pattern: x.x.x.x or x.x.x.x/y (e.g. 192.168.1.1, 192.168.2.0/24).  This field can be left empty if there are no such columns in the imported spreadsheet.

Note:

1.  Each of Site Identification should meet the requirement of corresponding predefined patterns, otherwise, the value will not be imported.

2. The Site Identifications of Device and Border Interface will be dropped if there are no corresponding devices in the workspace.

5. Click OK to complete the importing procedure. An organized Site tree will be created in seconds, similar to the screenshot below.

Since there may have some mistakes in the spreadsheet, so we can also maintain this sheet by modifying the hierarchy or wording from the Site Manager window.

Right click the root site of from the Site Pane, select the Export to Spreadsheet item to open the Export Site Info to Spreadsheet window.

Note: you can also select the Export to Spreadsheet from the Site Manager window by right clicking the root site.
